For the sixth time in school history and a third straight, the Lady Cards and Cardinals competed in the national tournament in the same  year.

The Lady Cards were in Lubbock on the campus of Lubbock Christian University, where the tournament was being held after an 18-year run in Salina, KS. The Cardinals were in Hutchison, KS, where the tournament has been held for it the entirety of its 69-year run.

The Lady Cards advanced to the national title game for a fifth time in six years. They fell 63-47 to Gulf Coast Saturday night.

The Lady Cards finished the season 31-4, which marked the seventh straight 30-win season in school history and 18th overall.

The Lady Cards, making their 21st national tournament appearance and ninth straight, are now 67-14 in national tournament games and have finished second, first, first, first, third and second the last six seasons.

The Cardinals, in their sixth national tournament appearance and third straight, left Hutch after an 87-83 loss to Gillette in the quarterfinals Thursday afternoon. It marked their second Elite 8 finish in three years.

For the year, the Cardinals were 33-2. The 33 wins matched a school record for wins in a season. The other 33-win season was in 1982, when the Cardinals finished third at the national tournament.

Other highlights of the Cardinals' outstanding season were an unprecedented 19-0 Region XIV Conference mark, a 28-game win streak, the first Region XIV Tournament title since 1999 and sophomore Josh Robinson becoming the all-time winningest Cardinal player with 62 wins (29 in 2014 and 33 this year). They were also ranked No. 1 nationally most of the season.
