Self-paced, online surveys to help college students with career and educational planning.

Sometimes finding the right career path can be a confusing journey, full of even more confounding questions.  What do you like to do?  What activities are you good at?  Do you want to travel?  How much education do you need?  Having to pick one career path to pursue can be stressful.  TVCC wants to help you pick the right career path for you.  There is no "right way" to make a decision that will so highly impact your future, but we do have a few good ideas on where to get started.  Below are two short, free surveys that will help you have a better idea of what career is best for you.  Use these tools to decide what kind of work you want to do once you have graduated.  This will help your Academic Advisor match you with the right degree plan, and you can begin working towards a profession you know you'll enjoy.

The free ISEEK careers survey will take about 15 minutes.  You will go down a list and check off items that sound enjoyable to you. It was created by ISEEK and adapted from the Guidance Division Survey, Oklahoma Department of Career and Technical Education (2005).   It is a guidance tool that encourages discussion. Questions will be about favorite activities, qualities you value in people and in yourself, as well as how you feel about school subjects.
At the end of the survey, you will be grouped into career clusters. These careers clusters have matched up with your selected interests. The clusters that are likely to be the best match for you are listed at the top of the list. Clusters with the same number of total matches are listed alphabetically. They may continue onto the remaining match list. Be sure to review both lists, and feel free to print your list to review with an Academic Advisor.  Just follow the link below to get started!

The O*NET Interest Profiler is a free questionnaire (60 question, roughly ten minutes) offered by My Next Move about work activities and on the job tasks.  My Next Move is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment & Training Administration, and developed by the National Center for O*NET Development.  This tool uses a scale to access your feelings, from Strongly Dislike to Strongly Like, about job activities.  Try to answer as quickly as possible without too much thought.  Just because you may not be qualified for a task, doesn't mean you might not enjoy that type of activity.  Even if you do not feel that you know much about a subject, the purpose of this survey is to see what you would like to do, not just what you are capable of thus far.
At the conclusion, you will be presented with a list of careers that have been matched with your personal choices.  Feel free to print your list to review with an Academic Advisor.  Just click on the link below to begin.
