Moving to linebacker's coach in 2013, Blake Bryan is entering his 3rd year with the Cardinals after spending 7 seasons playing and coaching for his alma mater Midwestern State University. Blake has tutored, in his two years at "The Valley", some of the best defensive lines and linemen in the SWJCFC, including 7 division 1 signees, 3 All-SWJCFC selections, a 1st Team All-American and a Trinity Valley Male Athlete of the Year. His lines have helped set the tone for the Cardinal defense which in the past two seasons have statistically been at or near the top of the conference in most defensive categories and a birth to the 2011 Citizens Bank Bowl.
As a player from 2004 to 2007, Blake played defensive line for the MSU Mustangs until an injury cut short his senior year paving his way into the coaching profession.
Coach Bryan began coaching with the defensive line as a student assistant in the fall of 2008, and upon completion of his undergraduate degree was hired on as a graduate assistant in the summer of 2009. Blake spent both the 2009 and 2010 seasons working with the MSU defensive line, which included 3 all-conference performers. In 2009, he helped lead Midwestern State to the Lone Star Conference Football Championship.
Blake also has a strong background in strength and conditioning, working as an assistant strength coach for football during the 2008, 2009 and 2010 seasons at MSU. During the 2009 championship season, Blake was named the Mustang's iterim head strength coach for all men's sports.
A native of Alvord, Texas, Blake was a 5 sport letterman for the Bulldogs all 4 years of high school. Blake holds both a Bachelor's degree in health science with a minor in history from MSU, and is only a few hours from completion of his Master's. Blake just got married this summer to the former Mandy Szymanski.
